Northern Star Flooring Ltd was contracted by Siemens Gamesa to install a high-performance floor suitable for factories, at their busy and high-traffic facility in Alexandra Dock, Hull. The project required the application of Polycoat Rapide Coating Systems KDR (Polyaspartic) for designated walkways and zebra crossings to enhance safety and durability within the site. The work was completed over three consecutive night shifts to minimize disruption to Siemens Gamesa’s operations.

Scope of Work

• Preparation and installation of 150 m² of high-performance flooring.
• Application of 550 LM of precise line marking to define walkways and safety zones.
• Use of Polycoat Rapide Coating Systems KDR, chosen for its rapid curing time, durability, and suitability for high-traffic industrial environments.
• Execution of all work during night shifts to ensure seamless integration with Siemens Gamesa’s production schedule.

Challenges & Solutions

• Tight Schedule: The project had to be completed within three nights to avoid disrupting operations. The rapid-curing Polyaspartic system allowed efficient application and minimal downtime.
• Weather Conditions: Given the winter season, ensuring optimal curing conditions was critical. Careful planning and environmental control measures helped maintain the required temperature and humidity levels.
