Northern Star Flooring Ltd was commissioned to transform a large residential driveway with a premium resin bound surface. The client wanted a modern, durable, and low-maintenance solution that would enhance the property’s kerb appeal, while standing up to the test of time.

Challenges

The project was completed under extreme heat conditions, with temperatures reaching 32°C on the day of installation. Resin bound surfacing requires careful handling in high heat due to faster curing times, meaning our team had to adapt our working methods to ensure a flawless finish.

Our Approach

• Preparation: The existing driveway base was thoroughly cleaned and checked for stability. Any imperfections were addressed to ensure a smooth application.

• Mixing & Application: Our team used a batch-mixing process to maintain quality control and consistency across the large 300m² area. We worked in carefully coordinated sections to avoid visible joins.

• Heat Management: To counteract the high temperatures, we adjusted our mix times, worked in shaded sequences where possible, and ensured all equipment was ready in advance to minimise delays.

• Finishing: The resin bound surface was trowelled to a perfectly smooth, seamless finish.
