Case Study: Luxury Development Conversion – Former Public House

Northern Star Flooring was appointed to deliver the floor preparation and levelling package for the conversion of a former public house into a high-end luxury residential development.

The existing ground floor substrates required extensive preparation to provide a stable, level, and durable foundation suitable for the proposed luxury finish throughout the development.

Scope of Works

Our specialist flooring team carried out the following works:

  • Diamond ground all ground floor areas using mechanical grinding equipment.
  • Thoroughly vacuumed all surfaces to remove dust and debris, ensuring a clean substrate for subsequent applications.
  • Applied a full coat of liquid Damp Proof Membrane (DPM) across the entire floor area.
  • Applied a second coat of liquid DPM to provide enhanced moisture protection.
  • Installed a pumped application of DCP Cemflow Base to achieve the required floor levels and create a suitable foundation.
  • Allowed the base layer to cure in accordance with manufacturer recommendations.
  • Pump applied DCP Cemflow Industrial Top Coat at 10mm thickness to provide a smooth, durable, and level surface ready for the next stage of construction.

Project Outcome

The completed floor provided a high-quality, seamless finish with excellent levels across the development. The use of pumped flowing screeds enabled efficient installation, reduced programme times, and delivered the precision required for a luxury residential scheme.
