Client:
British Gypsum, North Yorkshire

Northern Star Flooring Ltd. was commissioned by British Gypsum to carry out essential concrete works at their Sherburn in Elmet facility. The project focused on upgrading a heavily used forklift garage access road, ensuring it could withstand continuous industrial traffic and provide long-term durability.
British Gypsum required a robust concrete surface capable of handling daily forklift movements, heavy loads, and regular operational wear. The existing surface showed signs of deterioration and needed full replacement to maintain safety and operational efficiency.
To meet the demands of the facility, Northern Star Flooring Ltd. supplied and installed RC50 graded concrete, a high-strength, heavy-duty mix ideal for industrial environments. RC50 offers superior compressive strength, making it suitable for areas where large machinery and forklifts operate regularly.
Preparation: The existing surface was cleared and prepared to allow for proper bonding and levelling.
Installation: A total of 170 m² of RC50 graded concrete was poured and expertly finished to ensure a smooth, durable, and long-lasting surface.
Quality Assurance: Throughout the process, attention was given to achieving correct depth, compaction, and curing times to maximise the integrity of the new access road.
The completed concrete access road now provides British Gypsum with a high-strength, dependable surface suitable for continuous forklift operations. The upgrade enhances safety, reduces maintenance requirements, and supports efficient daily site logistics.
This project showcases Northern Star Flooring Ltd.’s capability in delivering high-quality concrete solutions for industrial clients. Using RC50 graded concrete ensured British Gypsum received a reliable, long-term upgrade tailored to their operational needs.
